As you enter the mangrove, you can’t help but feel a slightly spooky atmosphere with all those mangrove roots. A species endemic to Martinique.
I’ll show you two types of mangroves. First, the red mangroves. Then, the white mangroves with their large, sprawling roots, characteristic of this tree species.
In addition, the area is teeming with wildlife, including numerous bird species. You’ll also find crabs, crustaceans, mollusks, and of course, fish.
The tranquility of the mangrove teems with many small fish in their nursery grounds.
Perhaps we’ll have the pleasure of spotting a tarantula on a tree, which you can photograph safely from the boat.
Beyond serving as a giant filter and a landmark for many animals, the mangrove also helps all sailors hide their boats in the mangrove during cyclones or tsunamis. Indeed, the mangrove trees, thanks to their size and flexibility, provide protection. A snack is also provided during this tour.
